The Passing and Funeral Of Former RM Ivor Turner

It is with the greatest sadness that I have to report that Ivor Turner has passed away. A former member of the Bridgwater Branch who lived in WSM.

Ivor was a former sniper and member of 46 RM commando, in June 1944, the men of 46 commando had been given the task of clearing the valley of the River Mue.

On June 11th at Rots, they faced the battle hardened 12th German SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend. Ivor was awarded the Legion d’honour which he was very proud to receive in France.

Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time. His funeral will be taking place in WSM on Friday the 19th February at the WSM crematorium at 13:30.

Yours aye… John Cook, Branch chairman
