SSBN634 FTCM (SS) Johnnie Wayne Foster – Eternal Patrol

It is sad to inform you that Johnny Wayne Foster, FTCM(SS) left for eternal patrol on June 5, 2015.  Chief Foster served in the Stonewall Jackson (SSBN-634) as the Blue Crew COB from 1984-89.  My information also shows that he served in USS Henry Clay (SSBN-625) 1982-83.   Below is his obituary.

Foster, Johnnie Wayne

MARION, NC.   Johnnie Wayne Foster, age 73, of Marion, NC, died Friday, June 5, 2015 at Rose Hill Retirement Community. He was born December 30, 1941 in Cabarrus County, to the late John Foster and Ruby Hatley Foster. Mr. Foster retired from the United States Navy after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and loved to fish. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Andy Foster. Surviving Mr. Foster are his wife of 51 years, Ethel Stacey Foster of the home; one son, Michael Foster and wife, Menchie of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one daughter, Susan Fogarty and husband, Ron of Wake Forest; one brother, Larry Foster and wife, Joyce of Marion; one sister, Dianne Overcash and husband, Ronnie of Concord; five grandchildren, Brandon, Bryan, Alysha, Megan and Summer; and five great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, with Tina Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice of Rutherford County 372 Hudlow Rd. Forest City, NC 28043. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.kirkseyfhmarion.com
