SCAM SMS / TXT FROM LANDLINE TELEPHONE NUMBER TO ANOTHER LANDLINE (UK)

YOU CAN SEND A SMS / TXT MESSAGE TO A LANDLINE FROM A MOBILE PHONE, BUT DONT IN CASE RECIPIENT DOES NOT RECOGNISE NUMBER QUICKLY YOU MAY BE SCAMMED. JUST WRITE DOWN THE NUMBER GIVEN AND END CALL AS NORMAL. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OTHER BUTTON ON YOUR PHONE. GOOGLE THE NUMBER TO CHECK IT OUT. YOU CAN PHYSICALLY CALL THE NUMBER YOU WROTE DOWN FROM YOUR LANDLINE, I DID AND IT CAME UP UNOBTAINABLE.

My landline rang today at 1220hrs and 1245hrs asking if i want to listen / save or delete a sms / txt message (just end the call do not press any other buttons on your phone).

The call comes from supposedly a land line number “01253 530 342”.

I ended the call then rand the number back from my landline, the number is non existant. Obviously the number is “Masked” (hidden).

100% scam, if you press to listen / save or delete it may be classed as a return call to a prmium number which could cost anything up to £100 for the connection itself then another £100 just for that action alone.

Some landline phones let you send sms / txt messages to other landline or mobile phones. Unless you already have senders number in your phone contacts listing otherwise (it comes up as unknown or out of area or number withheld. Just note the number as previously advised and call them back.

THE SAME ROUTINE SHOULD YOU GET THIS CALL ON YOUR MOBILE PHONE. WRITE DOWN THE NUMBER, END THE CALL. THEN CALL THE NUMBER BACK FROM YOUR LANDLINE NOT YOUR MOBILE NUMBER.
