How to get new Windows XP updates for free until 2019 with a Simple Registry hack

Support might be over for the home user, but with a simple Registry hack XP users can get the downloads destined for the embedded version

I give NO warranty and i DO NOT imply perfect install first time for you. As i always do installs like this slowly and meticulously, and i did it on an old machine which is not my main brain. So, if you mess up its your fault. Just follow all instruction from the readme file and the instructions that pop up on your screen as  they may vary slightly on different machines as some updates you may already have so you decide whether to overwrite them (i did) or not. Some of you may have to have a couple of attempts. But, if you love XP then no harm trying… Good luck…

This means (if your Win XP was already loaded on your hard drive “PC or Laptop / Notebook” at point of purchase, usually a CD came as well in case you had to start over again due to a crash hard drive etc).

A usual green windows license sticker should be on the rear of the unit, this tells you the windows software was embedded prior to purchase (at the factory).

Brief explanation below this line

  1. Basically turn your unit on
  2. Do a complete backup as usual of all your files and folders, then
  3. Create a Restore point, name it “prior xp hack”
  4. Important system files and current registry will be backed up
  5. Step 1… Create registry file (see instructions)
  6. Step 2…Enter info into file as shown (see instructions, copy & paste))
  7. Step 3…Integrate file into registry

Run windows update as usual (best to let it update automatically)

Print out the instructions (5 pages) if you can or leave open on another screen if you have one. This is one of the most simplest “hacks” around if you do it exactly as described, it will work.

I tried this on a old Toshiba 17″ Laptop “Model Equium M40X-149” – Running Windows XP Home Edition. And it worked a treat, A – OK.
