SSBN634 – Jeff Oakins FTB2 (SS) Blue RIP

Sad news again as I have to report that another fine shipmate has been called to Eternal Patrol.   Jeff Oakins FTB2(SS) Blue Crew 66-69 passed on May 14, 2016 from complications of bladder cancer.  He was born May 25, 1943.   Jeff also served in USS US Grant (SSBN 631) where he was a plank-owner and qualified in submarines.

He will be interred with military honors at 10:00AM Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction Colorado.

On June 18th there will be celebration of his life at his home in Lafayette Colorado.  See attached document for details and please let me know if you plan to attend either or both of these events… for pdf “Click Here“

His death is especially sad for me as I served with Jeff and we stood many watches together.   We also shared an apartment on one off-crew.   He was a good friend, mentor, and shipmate.
