Funeral details added below…

It is with great sadness that I report the death of W. Jim Baker DSM legion d’honneur in the BLESMA home at Blackpool today Jim, as he was known, was the life President of the Blackpool Fylde and Wyre branch of the Royal Marines Association and was known throughout the Corps by just about everyone.

He had recently moved into the BLESMA home as his mobility decreased along with his failing health. He contracted pneumonia and died after a short illness.

Arrangements are being made for his funeral which will be a burial at Carleton, near Blackpool, with a service including all local standards, at St John Church, Church Street Blackpool.

Jim was born on 31st October 1922 and died today aged 93 years. He was a D-Day veteran and visited Normandy every year where he was a local celebrity. Jim will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
