The funeral of the late Mr William Sunnocks will take place at the Garden of England Crematorium, Bobbing, Sittingbourne ME9 8GZ on Monday 9th May commencing at 1100hrs
Mr Sunnocks aged 96 lived in Minster, Sheppey. He joined the Royal Marines in 1937 and spent most of the war in Gibraltar or as a signaller on Lord Louis Mountbatten’s staff.
He spent his childhood in a Faversham orphanage and whilst there wrote to actress and singer Gracie Fields. She paid a surprise visit to the orphanage and ‘adopted’ him. Later, whilst serving in the Marines, he often spent his leave at her home as he had no home of his own.
He has no family and a neighbour and friend, Janet Brown, has said that any members and Standard Bearers who would like to pay their respects will be most welcome.
Attendance is down to your own availability and therefore I do not need to know if you can or cannot attend.
Kind regards
Tony
