The funeral of the late Mr William Sunnocks will take place at the Garden of England Crematorium, Bobbing, Sittingbourne ME9 8GZ on Monday 9th May commencing at 1100hrs<\/p>\n
Mr Sunnocks aged 96 lived in Minster, Sheppey.\u00a0 He joined the Royal Marines in 1937 and spent most of the war in Gibraltar or as a signaller on Lord Louis Mountbatten\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n
He spent his childhood in a Faversham orphanage and whilst there wrote to actress and singer Gracie Fields.\u00a0 She paid a surprise visit to the orphanage and \u2018adopted\u2019 him.\u00a0 Later, whilst serving in the Marines, he often spent his leave at her home as he had no home of his own.<\/p>\n
He has no family and a neighbour and friend, Janet Brown, has said that any members and Standard Bearers who would like to pay their respects will be most welcome.<\/p>\n
